Photo by Peter McIntosh Come hike the beautiful Chattooga River Trail and experience spectacular scenery along with poetry and music. Rabun County's award winning poet, Laurence Holden, will be sharing his poems with us as we stop along the way to our destination on the river. We will have another special guest, accomplished musician Marie Dunkle who will be playing music along with Laurence's poetry readings. The two artists will present a tribute to the wilderness and especially our treasured Chattooga when we reach the end of the hike along the river bank. Meeting Time, Place, and Directions:
We will meet at 9:30 am at the Ingles parking lot in Clayton, Georgia. Go to the left as you enter the parking lot directly above the Ingles gas station. We will car pool to the trail head.

Distance and Difficulty:Approximatly 5 miles. Allow at least four hours for this hike since we will be doing a slow easy pace. This hike has a steep climb out of the river valley, but it is "do-able" because we plan to take our time. Easy to moderate.
What to Bring and Wear:
Lunch, water, rain gear if showers are expected, appropriate clothing and footwear, walking stick if needed, and if you are allergic to bees/wasps, remember your meds/epi-pen.

Pet Policy: Thank you for not bringing your pet friends unless otherwise noted as Dog Friendly Hike. Reservations required! This outing is free of charge, and open to everyone "first come, first served" up to the limit. Please provide your name, e-mail address, and phone number (preferably cell if you'll have one with you on outing day)
Cancellation:
Hikers will be notified if hike is cancelled due to forecast of severe weather, etc.
